Bio

Cloie Y. Chidiac is a member of the firm's Torts & Litigation Practice Group. She focuses her litigation practice in the areas of general litigation, education law and commercial litigation.

Ms. Chidiac represents various commercial clients directly and through their insurance providers. Her litigation practice includes such areas as general liability, insurance law, employment liability, premises liability, family law, commercial litigation and motor vehicle liability.

Ms. Chidiac represents school districts and higher education clients during the pre-suit and trial phases of litigation in the areas of education law and labor and employment law, including disputes involving Title VII and Title IX. These cases involve sex harassment claims, hostile work environment allegations, breach of contract and/or wrongful termination, retaliation, whistleblower claims, and wage and hour violations for overtime compensation. Ms. Chidiac has also defended student injury cases on behalf of school districts.

A past judicial clerk for former Oakland County Circuit Court – Family Division Judge Victoria A. Valentine, Ms. Chidiac provides counsel and representation in the areas of divorce, parenting time and child custody proceedings. She also has experience drafting and negotiating prenuptial agreements.

Representative Client Work

  • Successfully argued a motion for summary disposition on an issue of first impression on behalf of various insurance companies in three separate cases, involving statutory interpretation of the No-Fault Act, specifically, MCL 500.3157, as well as arguing whether a Medicare limitation (Medicare Multiple Procedure Reduction) should be considered by insurers in determining the amount payable under MCL 500.3157
  • Granted summary disposition pursuant to MCR 2.116(C)(7) and based on insurer’s prior payments to plaintiff-provider in 2023 under terms of “pricing contract” entered into by the plaintiff-provider in 2007
  • Granted summary disposition barring plaintiff-provider’s recovery of claimed medical bills from insurer due to prior release and settlement agreement executed by the patient-insured
