Sheppard Mullin Named A 2025 “California Powerhouse” by Law360

Law360

Sheppard Mullin was named among Law360’s 2025 Regional Powerhouses, recognized for racking up high-profile litigation wins and guiding noteworthy transactions in California over the past year. The firm was one of five that earned this distinction in the Golden State.

In a profile of the firm’s recent accomplishments, Law360 highlighted Sheppard Mullin’s representation of private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice in its multibillion-dollar partnership with Elevance Health to launch national care delivery platform Mosaic Health. The platform, which launched in August 2024, is expected to generate $4 billion in annual revenue while serving more than 1 million people across Medicaid, Medicare and commercial markets.

“The firm steered the deal through new and very rapidly changing regulatory rules in California and other states, setting precedents for future transactions that are subject to the new regulatory regimes taking shape," said Luca Salvi, chair of Sheppard Mullin. “The deal speaks to the healthcare team's forward-looking approach, in addition to the depth and agility to execute transformative partnerships in today's complex health sector.”

The firm’s other blockbuster transactions over the past year include Dea Spanos Berberian’s sale of a 24% ownership stake in the Los Angeles Chargers and deals for entertainment giants like Amazon MGM Studios, Meta, Spotify and Peacock. The firm also represented the City of Pasadena in a historic agreement with the organizers of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games for the city’s Rose Bowl Stadium to host Olympic soccer matches, marking the third Olympic Games the stadium will support and making it the second venue in the world with this standing.

Law360 also lauded the firm as a “go-to source of privacy counsel in California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) cases for some of the nation’s largest brands.” Recently, the firm achieved a favorable ruling in a CIPA case against client Neiman Marcus, and defended Nordstrom in a lawsuit that included CIPA claims. In the latter case, a jury returned a unanimous verdict in favor of the retailer in less than two hours.

First founded in California in 1927, Sheppard Mullin’s roots in the state run deep. The firm has continued to grow over the past year, adding lateral partners to its Corporate, Litigation, Healthcare and Media & Entertainment practice areas, among others.

“We are proud of our California roots and, today, we are a leading national and international firm working with the most sophisticated clients around the world,” said Salvi.
