Joshua handles a wide range of complex litigation matters, including breach of contract, copyright and trademark infringement, employment disputes, defamation, invasion of privacy, and general business matters. He has represented numerous entertainment industry clients, including studios, production companies, talent agencies, record labels, recording artists, actors, writers, directors, producers, studio executives, and social media influencers. He has also represented manufacturers, real estate developers, high-net-worth individuals, and nonprofit organizations. Joshua’s experience includes pretrial investigation, extensive motion practice, fact and expert discovery, arbitration, trial, and appeals.

Experience

• Representing an internationally renowned recording artist and a major record label in a copyright lawsuit regarding a hit song that reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100
• Representing a world-famous recording artist and actress in a variety of matters, including contract disputes, content and brand protection, employment issues, and personal and cybersecurity matters
• Representing a film financier in a contract and tort lawsuit relating to investment in a feature film
• Obtained a favorable settlement for a writer, producer, and financier of a feature film on the eve of an arbitration hearing on claims of breach of contract and fraud
• Represented a motion picture and television studio in a breach of contract lawsuit relating to the broadcast of a boxing match
• First-chaired arbitration for a cannabis company and obtained a $3 million award on a breach of contract claim
• Represented the executors of the estate of a best-selling American singer, songwriter, and dancer in several actions in the state and federal courts of California and New York
• Represented a multinational toy manufacturing and entertainment company in intellectual property and contract disputes
• Secured a complete victory in arbitration for a music management company regarding payment of commissions
• Represented several senior-level movie studio executives in employment disputes and obtained favorable confidential settlements and severance agreements
• Successfully obtained numerous restraining orders on behalf of high-profile and celebrity clients in stalking and harassment matters
• Defended a world-famous boxer and defeated a preliminary injunction motion to stop an internationally televised professional boxing event
• Represented a motion picture production company in a contract action arising from a film financing transaction. Obtained summary judgment in the client’s favor
• Won summary judgment for a defendant in a $40 million fraud, trade secret, and trademark action against a leading water product manufacturer
• Successfully defended, at trial, a live entertainment company in a multi-billion-dollar tort litigation
• Represented a motion picture production company in a contract dispute with a foreign distributor
• Represented a world-famous entertainer in a tort and contract dispute with several former employees
