Teresa Morin is an associate in the Business Trial Practice Group in the firm's San Diego (Del Mar) office.

Areas of Practice

Teresa represents clients in a variety of complex business matters in both domestic arbitration and traditional litigation in state and federal courts. She has experience in disputes regarding privacy & cybersecurity, healthcare, retail, construction, private wealth, and other business matters.

Teresa’s work encompasses everything from initial motions to dismiss through to the detailed work of summary judgment and the critical stages of trial preparation. She also has considerable experience navigating complex discovery and related issues.

In addition, Teresa keeps a robust pro bono practice. She has worked on several pro bono matters, including representing asylum seekers fleeing political persecution and advocating for survivors of domestic abuse and harassment. She began her pro bono journey as a student at USD Law’s Women’s Clinic where she represented clients in restraining order and family law matters.

During law school, Teresa served as a judicial extern to the Honorable M. Margaret McKeown of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Honorable Thomas J. Whelan of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and the Honorable William V. Gallo of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.

Teresa served as a Lead Articles Editor for the San Diego Law Review and was a member of USD’s Appellate Moot Court Associate Board where she won first place overall in both the Alumni Torts and Paul A. McLennon, Sr. Honors Moot Court Competitions.

Litigation Experience:

  • Drafted demand letters for clients as a preliminary step before litigation started to dispose of issues pre-litigation.
  • Prepared motions to dismiss, aiming to resolve the case early by challenging the validity of the claims against our clients.
  • Managed the process of transferring cases from California state courts to the federal system, ensuring compliance with jurisdictional requirements.
  • Filed motions to compel arbitration, seeking to move disputes to arbitration in accordance with contractual agreements.
  • Conducted research on various aspects of complex litigation cases, gathering necessary legal precedents and facts.
  • Created outlines for deposing and examining key witnesses, helping to clarify their testimonies and the facts of the case.
  • Evaluated potential risks, strategies, and calculated damages to inform clients of their legal positions and possible financial implications.
  • Drafted discovery requests to gather evidence supportive of clients’ cases.
  • Worked on resolving disputes over discovery, facilitating the exchange of information between parties.
  • Prepared motions in limine to sensitive issues prior to trial.
