Join Stinson LLP on September 28, 2022 for a complimentary seminar featuring educational and insightful commentary on current practices and future trends in estate planning, estate and trust administration and fiduciary litigation.
Stinson Partner Clary Redd will discuss Selected Estate Planning Recent Developments. His presentation will cover, among other things, the new IRS “anti-abuse” rule, portability election extensions, tax consequences of trust decanting, modification and premature termination, problems with GRATs, gift tax-related step transactions, valuation issues and charitable giving developments.
The program will conclude with a panel on Opportunities and Obstacles Presented by Multi-Jurisdictional Trusts with Stinson Partners Angela Bechtel, Lindsey Lang and Clary Redd as panelists. The panel intends to discuss, among other things, how a trust might become subject to one or more states’ income tax unintentionally; how the residency of a trust, its settlor, its beneficiaries and its income sources may impact its income tax status; how to change a trust’s situs; and the crucial difference between where a trust resides for income tax purposes and its principal place of administration and why this matters.
