Brittany Barrientos Selected as Stinson's 2024 D&I Champion Award Winner

Stinson LLP Partner Brittany Barrientos has been selected as the firm's 2024 D&I Champion Award winner, a recognition in celebration of her exemplary commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and prolonged dedication of sustained action that has benefited the firm and the legal profession.

"Brittany has distinguished herself through her professional accomplishments and her unwavering commitment to DEI efforts," Stinson Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer Ann Thomas said. "Her passion and tireless service to creating a more equitable and inclusive legal profession, both within our firm and the broader community, is incredibly inspiring."

Barrientos has been with the firm since 2011 and has championed diversity, equity and inclusion through various initiatives. As co-chair of the firm's Attorneys of Color Employee Resource Group, she has been instrumental in programs focused on supporting associate growth and development, as well as empowering partners within the firm. Additionally, she served on the firm's Diversity Committee and co-chaired the firm's Recruiting Committee, where she introduced innovative approaches to attorney and summer associate recruitment, resulting in the successful hiring of talented individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Barrientos' commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion extends beyond the firm. She is a long-standing board member of the Diverse Attorney Pipeline Program, a former vice-chair of the Missouri Bar's Committee on Diversity and served on the Special Committee on Lawyers of Color. Barrientos also served as a Fellow for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and is an active alumna of the LCLD Fellows Program.

In addition to her DEI leadership and her legal practice advising clients on environmental and safety issues, Barrientos is active in the Kansas City community. She was a member of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Centurions class of 2019, a board member of the Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey and a founding board member of The Beacon.

The D&I Champion Award is an annual award. The award recipient is selected by Stinson's Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer with significant input from firm leadership and its board of directors.
