Lowell Noteboom Receives 2024 Minnesota ICON Award

Stinson LLP Partner Lowell Noteboom has been honored with the 2024 Minnesota ICON Award by Finance & Commerce and Minnesota Lawyer.

Noteboom's selection as a Minnesota ICON is a testament to his steadfast commitment to leadership, client service and community engagement and recognizes his five decades of contributions to the legal profession and community.

Early in his career, Noteboom demonstrated a commitment to leadership and client service that would help shape the trajectory of Stinson. He served as president for 12 years at Leonard, Street and Deinard, one of Stinson's predecessor firms, where he drove the firm's growth and championed client needs. Noteboom also played a vital role in the merger between Leonard, Street and Deinard and Stinson Morrison Hecker, and served as co-general counsel for the newly formed firm. Today, he continues to serve Stinson as assistant general counsel.

Beyond his firm leadership, Noteboom has spent his career advising clients on their most critical construction projects and disputes. He has represented national, regional and local owners, contractors and design professionals across North America. He also provides governance counsel to CEOs and boards of directors of major arts organizations across the country.

Noteboom demonstrates a decades-long commitment to the community, especially to major arts organizations. This includes serving 20 years on the board of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra (including seven as chair) and a similar 20-year tenure on the board of the League of American Orchestras in New York City (including eight as chair), where the Noteboom Governance Center was established in his honor.

Noteboom is also a forward-thinking advocate for mental health and addiction awareness in the legal profession, fostering open discussions about mental health challenges, moderating panels on these issues and creating a supportive environment where individuals feel comfortable addressing these difficult topics.

Noteboom is one of 17 business and community leaders to be honored with the Minnesota ICON Award.
