Murdock Discusses Firm Growth, Future Plans with Kansas City Business Journal

Stinson LLP Managing Partner Allison Murdock is featured in a Kansas City Business Journal article, "Stinson adds 63 new attorneys nationwide this year and doesn't plan to slow down."

The article highlights the firm's collaborative approach and plans for future growth after a fast-paced 2023 that saw 63 attorneys join the firm across its 13 offices.

"The location of where they might live or the office they may be in is not as crucial to us because we work very well across offices, which is kind of a hallmark of how we practice," Murdock said. "So what we’ve done is when we felt like we really needed a deeper bench in a particular area, that’s where we’d look to grow."

Murdock told the Kansas City Business Journal that the Washington, DC, office is a good example of Stinson’s overall recruitment strategy. In DC, Stinson has added nine attorneys this year, bringing in antitrust, bankruptcy, corporate finance, energy, labor and employment and FinTech expertise to serve clients across the country.

Additionally, Murdock highlighted the 41 new associates Stinson hired this year, adding that the firm’s goal "is always that associates become our partners at some point." Murdock said that Stinson has no plans to slow down its hiring, with an eye toward adding attorneys in Dallas and Phoenix as well as the West Coast.

"One of the key things we’re looking for in addition to expertise is that people are very collaborative," Murdock said. "That they want to be a part of the firm and really work with other people, so we’re all part of one firm working together toward a common purpose, which is to serve our clients."

Murdock serves as the managing partner of Stinson LLP and holds ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the firm's operations and performance, including development and implementation of the firm's strategic initiatives. Her focus is on leading and growing a client-focused and community-engaged firm. In addition to serving as the firm's managing partner, Murdock is a member of its board of directors and executive committee.
