Stinson Honored with 2025 Beacon of Justice Award by NLADA

Press Release
10.07.2025

Stinson LLP is one of 30 firms recognized by the National Legal Aid & Defense Association (NLADA) with a 2025 Beacon of Justice Award. The award honors the firm’s pro bono efforts focused on advancing equal justice for families and communities in 2024.

“Thriving communities begin with strong families; therefore, we must ensure that families can access legal aid when needed,” said NLADA President & CEO April Frazier Camara in a press release. “It is my pleasure to honor these law firms who have worked tirelessly to support families and communities through their pro bono efforts.”

In 2024 Stinson supported families and communities through a wide range of pro bono legal work. This included safeguarding voting rights, advocating for immigrant children without parental or guardian care, representing parents in Jackson County Family Court, and supporting asylum seekers who have been victims of sexual assault. The firm also hosted advance care planning clinics in Kansas City and Minneapolis and represented wrongfully convicted individuals working to rebuild their lives, strengthening both families and the communities they call home.

“We’re honored to receive the 2025 Beacon of Justice Award from NLADA. Stinson is dedicated to providing pro bono legal support on critical issues, from helping immigrant families find safety and stability, to protecting housing access, to advancing civil rights through litigation,” said Stinson Managing Partner Allison Murdock. “We are proud of the difference these efforts have made for individuals and communities, and we remain committed to using our legal skills to give back to the communities we serve.”

Stinson’s pro bono practice is spearheaded by the firm’s pro bono committee and implemented by Pro Bono Counsel Katie Cronin, along with Pro Bono Attorney Tim Sanders Szabo and Pro Bono Specialist David Gottfried.
