Minnesota Regulatory Filing Deadline Relief
As part of its recent COVID-19 response package, the Minnesota Legislature provided the Commissioner of Commerce with wide emergency authority to extend, delay or waive deadlines for all licensing, investigative and filing requirements under his jurisdiction.
Examples of relief include filing time frames for submitting producer, adjuster, administrator and insurer licensing renewals, investigative or examination information demands, financial and holding company act submissions, and all the myriad of documents and applications that must be submitted to the department within a certain time frame.
Under the legislation, the commissioner cannot extend a deadline for a specific applicant or licensee and instead must do so for all licensees or applicants as a class.
If you or your business will be facing difficulty in meeting a Minnesota regulatory submission deadline, Stinson’s insurance attorneys and government affairs representatives can help by contacting the appropriate department representative to seek relief on your behalf.
