Iain enjoys using his financial acumen and legal skills to help clients invest in and develop communities.
Overview
Iain counsels banks, financial institutions and developers in financing transactions, concentrating on projects using federal and state incentives. Iain's practice includes loans for affordable housing, construction financing, commercial real estate and agricultural financing.
He also regularly acts as local counsel to both borrowers and lenders in connection with the financing, re-financing and acquisition of multistate real estate portfolios. As local counsel, he is often contacted to advise on local state law and issue mortgage enforceability opinions.
Experience
Iain counsels a national financial institution serving as corporate trustee in connection with high yield and investment grade debt offerings including Rule 144A and Regulation S offerings.
He represented the lead lender and administrative agent in a $24 million hotel development project in downtown Minneapolis.
He also represented the lender in a $25 million project involving low-income housing tax credits, federal historic tax credits, state historic tax credits, municipal bonds, public agency grants and conventional loan financing.
Iain has assisted a developer in all stages of the acquisition and development of a boutique hotel and residential condominium on Lake Minnetonka.
Iain currently represents a national homebuilder in the acquisition and development of single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums.
