Overview

He counsels clients across the full spectrum of the health care industry, with a practice spanning state licensure and federal certification, regulatory compliance, transactional needs, general litigation and regulatory enforcement matters. Bill works with a wide range of clients, from individual practitioners to large institutional providers, offering not only legal advocacy and consultation, but also proactive guidance that helps them anticipate and avoid risks and liabilities before they arise.

Known for his strategic counsel in high-stakes situations, Bill also advises on Post Acute Care licensure and regulatory issues, medical staff and credentialing matters, peer review, general compliance with federal and state regulations, and investigations involving regulatory agencies.

Experience

Was successful in securing a $1.79 million dollar judgment in arbitration for the seller in a breach of contract dispute arising from a purchase agreement.

Successfully defended and negotiated multiple health care provider cases in matters of alleged CMS overpayments and recoupment.

Represented health care professionals—including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and dentists—before their respective licensing boards, achieving successful outcomes in numerous cases and avoiding severe sanctions.

Successfully defended long-term care administrators in licensure enforcement matters before the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, including reversal of multiple proposed revocation actions.

Assisted numerous health care providers in buying and selling practices and transferring ownership interests and assets.

Assisted numerous health care entrepreneurs in developing, creating and building health care companies from idea development to entity creation to certification and operation.

Represented numerous health care companies in litigation involving medical malpractice, collections, contract disputes, and reimbursement issues.

Routinely advise health care professionals and companies in drafting and negotiating employment and independent contractor agreements.

Defended long-term care facilities in survey and licensure matters before CMS and TXHHSC.
