Zachary T. Buchheit

Experience

Zach has substantial experience in all phases of civil litigation, from drafting pleadings and conducting discovery to settling claims and trying a case to jury verdict. He has handled all types of motion practice in both state and federal court, including class certification and appeals.

As a litigator for the Missouri Attorney General's Office, Zach defended state agencies and employees as lead counsel in a multitude of civil disputes. There, he regularly drafted substantive pleadings and discovery, conducted depositions, and presented oral arguments.

Zach has obtained a successful defense verdict as first-chair counsel in a week-long jury trial on claims of employment discrimination. He has also successfully defended against and negotiated settlement of class action claims brought under 42 U.S.C. Section 1983. 

In law school, Zach was an extern for U.S. district court judge and drafted opinions involving writs of habeas corpus and Social Security Administration disability benefits. He also worked in his law school's criminal defense clinic where he counseled indigent clients and helped draft sentencing memoranda in federal court.
