Navigating Royalty Disputes in the Appalachian Basin: A Legal Update (Webinar) 

Ilya Batikov, a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the firm's energy, finance and real estate group, presented a webinar titled "Navigating Royalty Disputes in the Appalachian Basin: A Legal Update" on October 29 on behalf of the Ohio Oil & Gas Association. 

The presentation examined recent court decisions affecting producer royalty obligations in the Appalachian Basin.  Further discussion highlighted rulings addressing market enhancement clause leases, post-production cost allocation with overriding royalty interests and the application of West Virginia’s Wellman/Tawney doctrine.
