Overview
Chris is a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the probate and tax group. He counsels clients on identifying, negotiating and implementing economic development incentives and tax credits for clients relocating, expanding, consolidating or experiencing significant operational changes. He has significant experience working with developers, operating businesses and political subdivisions throughout the country to utilize tax credits, economic development incentives, abatements, economic development financing mechanisms, and public-private partnerships. Chris has experience assisting clients from a variety of industries, including manufacturing, financial services, energy, distribution, transportation, biopharmaceutical, healthcare, education and retail.
Career highlights include:
- Representing clients in incentives matters in over 25 states across the country
- Assisting national and regional developer clients in securing incentives for the construction of dozens of distribution center facilities throughout the United States
- Representing a Fortune 50 retailer on incentives matters in over ten states throughout the United States
- Representing a foreign based corporation as incentives counsel with an approximately $1B EV component manufacturing facility
- Serving as lead counsel for dozens of tax incentives agreements (property tax abatements, grants, TIF exemptions, job tax credits, and other various incentives) that resulted in billions of dollars in investments and the creation of thousands of jobs
- Representing a Fortune 200 company with the establishment of an approximately $500M manufacturing facility in North Carolina
- Representing a European Fortune Global 100 company in the purchase and redevelopment of a large manufacturing facility in Missouri
- Serving as incentives counsel on key aspects of data center projects and megaprojects for some of the largest companies in the world
Chris received his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and his B.A. cum laude from Miami University.
