Havens Quoted in Dayton Daily News Story on the Affordable Care Act

Jolie Havens, a partner in the Vorys Columbus office, was quoted in a Dayton Daily News story about what might happen if the Affordable Care Act is overturned.

The story states:

“In some ways the law is too far along to get eviscerated, said Jolie N. Havens, a Columbus attorney specializing in health-care and employee benefits law with Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease.”

'I don’t think we can say definitively what things would look like,” said Havens. “Just as many of these requirements have been phased in, they would have to be phased back out, and we’ve gotten a reasonably far way down the road with some of them. I have to wonder, when we talk about repeal, would we be talking about wholesale repeal and throwing out the baby with the bathwater? Or would we look at the different parts of the law and see what we want to keep?'”

"'If it is repealed, I don’t think anybody can say what that rollback might look like,” Havens said. 'I think it would be very interesting to say, ‘How are we going to back all this out?’ I don’t think we can just snap our fingers and go back to the day before the act was enacted.'"
