Havens Wins 2019 Chambers Award for Outstanding Contribution to Furthering the Advancement of Diversity in the Legal Profession
Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP is pleased to announce that Jolie Havens, the firm’s first-ever Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer (CDIO), was selected from 14 finalists nationally as the winner of the Chambers 2019 “Outstanding Contribution to Furthering the Advancement of Diversity in the Legal Profession” Award. According the Chambers and Partners, the award honors “a partner that has shown an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.”
Havens is a partner in the Columbus office and chair of the firm’s health care industry group. Since 2017, Havens has served as chair of the Vorys Diversity & Inclusion Committee, the internal committee historically charged with advising the firm on matters of diversity and inclusion. In her expanded role as CDIO, she leads, develops and implements strategies for prioritizing the attraction, retention, development and advancement of diverse attorneys in all practices across Vorys’ seven offices, as well as leading development of strategic partnerships with clients and other community stakeholders. Under Havens’ leadership, Vorys has made meaningful progress on diversity and inclusion through consistent, sustained efforts designed to promote equity for everyone in the Vorys family. Vorys has also celebrated many important firsts under Havens’ leadership, including her work planning and hosting the firm’s first Diversity & Inclusion Summit, releasing the firm’s first Diversity & Inclusion Report, and leading the firm’s inaugural participation in Columbus Pride. Havens frequently speaks, both locally and nationally, on matters related to diversity and inclusion.
