Kinzer Admitted to The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers
Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP is pleased to announce that Allen Kinzer, a partner in the firm’s Columbus office, has been inducted into the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. The College is a non-profit professional association for “leading lawyers nationwide in the practice of labor and employment law.”
“Becoming a member of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers is an extremely prestigious honor,” said Mark Knueve, chair of the Vorys labor and employment group. “However, it’s not surprising that Allen was selected as a fellow. He is a go-to attorney at the firm for a number of complex labor and employment issues.”
According to the College, fellows are recognized as distinguished members of the labor and employment community who promote achievement, advancement and excellence in the practice by setting standards of professionalism and civility, by sharing their experience and knowledge and by acting as a resource for academia, the government, the judiciary and the community at large. Approximately 1,600 lawyers from across the United States and Canada are Fellows of the College.
Kinzer has represented employers across the country, defending discrimination suits and advising employers on union issues. He has successfully defended employers in wage and hour class actions and counseled employers through collective bargaining, strikes and picketing by unions. Kinzer has also successfully represented employers before the National Labor Relations Board and the U.S. Department of Labor concerning wage and hour and Family and Medical Leave Act issues. In addition, he serves as outside general counsel to large multi-employer benefit plans, which involves counseling and litigation under ERISA and the Taft-Hartley Act.
Throughout his career, Kinzer has lectured on a variety of topics including the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the National Labor Relations Act, decisions of the National Labor Relations Board, Title VII and state discrimination laws and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Kinzer received his J.D. with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he was a member of the University of North Carolina Law Review. He received his B.A. summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University, where he was Phi Beta Kappa.
