Miller Quoted in Associated Press Story on Contempt of Court Order Against Ohio Department of Natural Resources
Joseph Miller, a partner in the Vorys Columbus office, was quoted in an Associated Press story regarding the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) progress on completing appraisals for landowners along Grand Lake St. Marys whose land floods during rain storms because of a dam ODNR constructed in 1997. In December 2012, the Ohio Supreme Court said ODNR was moving too slowly and found the department in contempt. The Court ordered ODNR to complete appraisals within 90 days and begin appropriation proceedings within 120 days to compensate landowners.
The story states:
“An attorney for the landowners took a different position, saying the state still hadn’t completed the appraisal work.
The state has been slowly submitting the appraisals but would be in contempt of court if the work wasn’t done by today, Columbus attorney Joe Miller said in a statement.”
