Ohio House of Representatives Honors Stratton’s Judicial Career
Evelyn Lundberg Stratton, of counsel in the Vorys Columbus office, was honored by the Ohio House of Representatives on May 7, 2013. State Representative Mike Duffey, from Ohio’s 21st House District, presented Stratton with a certificate acknowledging her 16 years of service as a Justice on the Supreme Court of Ohio. The certificate also acknowledged her achievements as the first female judge of the Franklin County Common Pleas Court and her work on behalf of adults and children with mental illness in the criminal justice system.
The certificate states:
“Throughout your distinguished career you have demonstrated unwavering faith in, and dedication to, the highest traditions of American jurisprudence, and your deep sense of duty and adherence to the basic precepts of the law have justly merited you widespread respect. As an attorney and the first female judge of the Franklin County Common Pleas Court, you showed exceptional prowess and initiative in the courtroom, and it came as no surprise when you were appointed to the Supreme Court of Ohio in 1996.
Over the years your name has become synonymous with excellence, for you have demonstrated an extraordinary ability to make pragmatic decisions and fair compromises under the demands of an ever increasing docket. The founder of the Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Mental Illness and the Courts, you have fulfilled you myriad of duties with the utmost integrity, sensitivity, and competence and have become legendary in your approach to difficult and challenging cases.”
At Vorys, Stratton works with firm clients in a variety of areas, including health care, litigation and appellate work.
