Stratton Featured in Hannah Report Story titled “Stratton Supports Stepping Up Initiative at State Task Force Meeting”
Eve Stratton, of counsel in the Vorys Columbus office who prior to joining Vorys served as justice on the Supreme Court of Ohio for 16 years, was the focus of a Hannah Report story titled “Stratton Supports Stepping Up Initiative at State Task Force Meeting.” The story highlighted her remarks at a recent meeting of the Ohio Task Force on Criminal Justice and Mental Illness.
The story states:
“The retired judge also gave her own definition and goals for the Stepping Up Initiative in the state.
‘Deal with issues of people who have mental illness who cycle in and out of jail and how we try to keep them from getting in, and keep them connected with services when they get out,’ she said. ‘In other words, put them back in the civil system and the mental health system where they should be, instead of the jails.’
Stratton explained that the Stepping Up Initiative has a ‘steering committee’ in Ohio whose leadership she lauded as she said the group is ‘inventing the wheel’ in regard to ‘rolling out’ the program on a county-by-county basis.”
