Retired Vorys Partner Tiffany Strelow Cobb Appointed U.S. Bankruptcy Judge
Retired Vorys Partner Tiffany Strelow Cobb has been appointed as a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of Ohio. The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals selected Judge Cobb to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of United States Bankruptcy Judge John E. Hoffman, Jr. She was sworn in on August 20, 2025.

Judge Cobb practiced at Vorys for more than 26 years, during which time she served as the co-chair and the chair of the firm’s bankruptcy and creditors' rights group. She also served on several firm committees, including the firm's Management, Hiring, and Ethics committees.
In her practice, Judge Cobb represented unsecured creditors, secured creditors, trustees, creditors’ committees and other parties in interest in complex chapter 11 reorganization cases, chapter 7 cases and in related litigation on a national basis and acted as co-counsel on an international basis.
Judge Cobb has been consistently recognized by The Best Lawyers in America and Chambers and Partners. In 2024, she was named Columbus’ Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers.
She is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. Judge Cobb is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) and served as a co-chair of the ABI Midwest Regional Bankruptcy Conference for the past two years. With the Court, she filled leadership roles on the Attorney Advisory Committee and Mediation Project Committee.
Judge Cobb is a graduate of Washington University School of Law and later completed the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Mediating the Litigated case.
When Judge Cobb left Vorys to join the bench, the firm named Kari Balog Coniglio as chair of the firm’s bankruptcy and creditors’ rights group.
