Miller Appears in Columbus News Broadcasts, Discussing Noor Islamic Center’s Discrimination Lawsuit against City of Hilliard
Joe Miller, a partner in the firm’s Columbus office and chair of the litigation group, was featured in several local television news broadcasts, discussing a lawsuit filed in federal court by an entity owned by the Noor Islamic Cultural Center against the City of Hilliard, its city council and city manager. Noor aims to redevelop a 200,000 sq. ft. vacant office building, which it purchased, into a neighborhood center that offers economic growth and religious services to both the mosque’s members and the Hilliard community at large. The group’s plans, carefully created to comply with Hilliard zoning law, have been rejected repeatedly by the city.
“You can imagine the Muslim community in central Ohio doesn’t want to be in court,” he said, as featured in coverage by NBC4. “They want to be practicing their faith and enabling their members to have successful businesses and other enterprises at this building. That’s been their only intent all along.”
