Facebook Firings, Twitter Terminations: National Labor Relations Board Draws Shaky Line
Jackie Ford, a partner in the Vorys Houston and Columbus offices, authored an op-ed for the November 2, 2012 edition of the Houston Business Journal entitled “Facebook firings, Twitter terminations: National Labor Relations Board draws shaky line.” In the piece, Ford says that despite the growing significance of social media in everyday communication, employers still face increasing hazards in responding to its challenges. To highlight these challenges she outlines recent reports issued by the Acting General Counsel for the National Labor Relations Board, which attempt to define when workers can, and cannot, be held accountable for off-site commentary, and whether employers can require their workers to speak accurately and courteously online.
