ROAR for Good Awarded Patent for Wearable Device Mesh Network System

9.30.21

White and Williams client ROAR for Good is celebrating the approval of its patent application for its Bluetooth-enabled, low-energy mesh network system. The technology serves as the tech center to its network of wearable safety devices AlwaysOn, a location-based panic button provided by the hotel industry to its staff and which is being introduced to the healthcare community.

ROAR engaged White and Williams Partner Frank Bruno to draft this patent application and represent them at the US Patent and Trademark Office. Frank was able to understand the technology and convey to the patent examiner critical distinctions between ROAR’s proprietary Bluetooth technology and cited prior art. The timing worked out just right for ROAR, which presented its product and technology at the HITEC conference just after securing the patent.

“You always hear about how important intellectual property is, how it builds barriers to entry,” said Yasmine Mustafa, CEO and cofounder. “It’s been a hard 18 months. The fact we were able to make the decisions we needed to and get this patent on top of it, is incredibly exciting. The patent is a huge win.”
