OVERVIEW
Brendaliz Minaya Ruiz is an associate in the Commercial Litigation practice at White and Williams. She handles complex insurance coverage litigation and insurance contract disputes. Brendaliz protects the interests of her clients by analyzing and litigating insurance coverage issues, including trigger of coverage, application of policy exclusions, notice, duty to defend, and allocation of coverage.
Prior to joining the firm, Brendaliz advised clients on high exposure insurance coverage disputes, including analyzing insurance policy language, conducting research and drafting memoranda on pertinent coverage issues. She also handled all aspects of litigation, including depositions, motions and oral arguments on complex civil litigation matters involving products liability, premises liability and claims brought pursuant to the Child Victims Act. Additionally, she advised clients on pre-litigation employment issues including best practices, preventative measures and risk-reducing policies concerning a variety of topics such as the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
Brendaliz has also served as Assistant Corporation Counsel for New York City Law Department, Special State Law Enforcement Defense Unit, and a Research Assistant for the Neuroscience & Law Center at Fordham University School of Law.
