Chris has been handling subrogation matters for over 30 years. He is heavily involved in the industry and has a particular focus on fire-related matters.

OVERVIEW

Chris Konzelmann is Chairman of the Subrogation Department at White and Williams LLP and a recognized leader in fire loss litigation. Since beginning his legal career, Chris has focused on investigating and litigating complex property subrogation claims, with a particular emphasis on fire-related losses. His deep understanding of both the legal and technical aspects of fire investigation makes him a trusted advisor to insurers across the country.

As Chairman, Chris oversees a team of attorneys handling subrogation matters nationwide. He leads strategic initiatives, mentors attorneys within the department, and works closely with clients to develop recovery solutions tailored to their business needs.

Chris is a long-standing member of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP) and a frequent presenter at its Annual and Spring Conferences. He also regularly delivers webinars and training sessions for subrogation clients, helping them stay informed on legal developments and best practices in recovery strategy.

He is an active member of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), where he serves as Co-Chair of the Insurance Industry Outreach Committee. Chris is an IAAI Certified Instructor and a frequent speaker at conferences on fire investigation and subrogation. He also teaches “Fire Investigator Case Preparation and Testimony” at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

In addition to his legal practice, Chris brings nearly two decades of operational fire service experience. He has served for 19 years with the Moorestown Fire Department in Burlington County, New Jersey, where he holds the rank of Captain. He is a state-certified Fire Officer and Fire Instructor and is certified as an interior structural firefighter.

Chris’s unique combination of courtroom experience, instructional leadership, and hands-on firefighting service allows him to bridge the gap between field investigation and legal advocacy. His work continues to shape how fire investigators and attorneys collaborate to build strong, defensible cases in the pursuit of subrogation recovery.

In 2006, while practicing law full-time, Chris attended the Mercer County Fire Academy in Lawrenceville, New Jersey and became a state certified interior structural firefighter. He continued his fire service education and became a certified fire officer and fire instructor. Chris is currently a Captain in the Moorestown Fire Department in Burlington County, New Jersey and responds to approximately 200 calls for service each year.

Since 2012, Chris has been selected in a survey of his peers as a Pennsylvania "Super Lawyer" by Super Lawyers.
