Nancy Conrad Honored by the Pennsylvania Bar Association With President’s Award
The Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) honored Partner Nancy Conrad with the Pennsylvania Bar Association President’s Award for her dedication and commitment as Chair of the PBA Diversity Team. The award was presented during the virtual PBA Awards Luncheon on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
Nancy was recognized for her dedication and outstanding leadership of the PBA Diversity Team and for spearheading the Diversity and Inclusion Best Practices Series, which brought attention to important topics in a meaningful way throughout the past year.
The PBA Diversity Team establishes resources and forums for enhanced communication among PBA groups with diversity initiatives. Under Nancy’s leadership, the Team offered numerous programs addressing some of the most timely issues affecting our society and the profession, including “LGBTQ Rights: Precedent Can be Personal,” “The Life and Legacy of Ruth Bader Ginsburg,” and “Perspectives on Understanding and Responding to Hate Crimes.”
Nancy has a deep history of involvement with the PBA. She has been appointed as the Woman Governor to the PBA and represents the interests of woman lawyers in Pennsylvania. She is Vice-Chair of the PBA Practice Committee, Past Co-Chair and current Executive Council Member of the PBA Commission for Women in the Profession (WIP), Immediate Past Chair and current Executive Council Member of the PBA Labor and Employment Section and Council Member of the PBA Civil Litigation Section. In 2019, WIP presented Nancy with the Anne X. Alpern Award. The Alpern Award is presented annually to a Pennsylvania woman attorney who demonstrates excellence in the legal profession and who makes a significant professional impact on women in the law.
In addition to her commitment to the statewide organized bar, Nancy is a member of the Lehigh County Bar Association, its Board of Directors and is currently serving as treasurer. She also serves as a Hearing Committee Member for the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court and is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys.
Nancy represents businesses, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations in workplace disputes including wrongful discharge, whistleblower and federal and state discrimination claims and provides counsel on workplace issues. Most notably, she led the defense in several high-profile cases involving claims of discrimination and defamation under the Whistleblower Law.
