White and Williams Partner Jay Shapiro Receives Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program Award
White and Williams is pleased to announce that Partner Jay Shapiro has been recognized with a Fulbright Scholar Program award to Albania. The Fulbright Program is the flagship international education exchange program designed to build lasting connections with the people of the U.S. and other countries.
Jay will have the opportunity to meet and speak with judges and lawyers throughout the country. His contributions will include lecturing judges and prosecutors at the School of Magistrates in Albania, focusing on criminal law, including search and seizure issues and trial practice, and will work with students at the School of Law of the University of Tirana on a variety of subjects.
The Fulbright Program was established in 1946 and has enabled more than 390,000 dedicated and accomplished students, scholars, artists, teachers, and professionals of all backgrounds to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas, and find solutions to shared international concerns. Fulbright alumni include 60 Nobel Prize laureates, 86 Pulitzer Prize recipients, and 37 who have served as a head of state or government. The program is funded through an annual appropriation made by the U.S. Congress to the U.S. Department of State. Participating governments and host institutions, corporations, and foundations around the world also provide direct and indirect support to the Program, which operates in more than 160 countries worldwide.
