Hinshaw Partner Aimee Delaney Named to Second Annual Salute! Women in Law by Chicago Daily Law Bulletin & Chicago Lawyer
The U.S. law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced that partner Aimee Delaney was among 50 honorees selected for the Second Annual Salute! Women in Law Awards by Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer. The media company received more than 400 nominations for the 2021 awards.
A member of Hinshaw’s labor and employment practice, Delaney advises employers on all aspects of the employment relationship, defends companies against claims related to state and federal employment laws, and handles traditional labor matters. She currently serves on the firm’s Management Committee and is also a member of the Executive Committee.
Delaney joined Hinshaw in 2001 as an associate, advancing to partner within three years. She went on to chair the firm’s Employment practice group from 2014-2019. Throughout her career, Delaney has worked to anticipate employment issues and help her clients to get out ahead of legal issues before they arise. She also advises companies on building positive work cultures through management and employee training programs. She has been at the forefront of emerging employment law issues, including developing a unique anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training program on LGBTQ issues for employers in conjunction with Hinshaw’s LGBTQ affinity group.
Delaney also helped spearhead the development of Hinshaw’s adult long term care practice, which assists long-term and home care providers with regulatory compliance matters and employment issues, including diversity initiatives aimed at both employees and clients/residents.
"Aimee has garnered the respect of her colleagues, clients and the legal community through her leadership and efforts to promote positive workplace culture and environments," said Hinshaw Chairman Peter Sullivan. "Our firm has benefitted significantly from her efforts to advance diversity and gender equity in the practice of law. We are thrilled that Aimee has been recognized by Chicago Lawyer as one of its top Women in Law for 2021."
Delaney began her career as one of a small group of female attorneys to practice in the male dominated area of traditional labor law, including collective bargaining and unfair labor practices. Today she continues to set an example for other women practicing in this area of law, and has earned a reputation as a strong advocate for her clients on various matters before state and federal labor boards.
A tireless advocate for women attorneys, Delaney mentors and guides young female associates as they navigate their careers and advises them on work life balance and managing a law practice and parenthood. In her leadership roles at Hinshaw, Delaney has had a major influence on developing firm policies and programs that sustain gender equity and support the advancement and retention of women attorneys. Chief among her contributions was the development of parental leave policies that benefit both female and male attorneys.
Delaney’s influence extends to the greater Chicago community. She is an adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she has taught employment law courses since 2007 and advises law students on academic and career planning.
Delaney was named among Crain’s Chicago Business Notable Gen X Leaders in Law in 2019, and selected by Super Lawyers Magazine to its Super Lawyers List, 2014-2021. She is the second Hinshaw attorney to receive recognition in the Salute! Women in Law list; Hinshaw partner Diane Webster was honored in the inaugural edition.
