McGrath was selected to the Crain's list for the second consecutive year
U.S. law firm Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that partner Brian McGrath, co-chair of the firm’s Consumer Financial Services practice group, has been selected by Crain’s New York Business for its 2024 list of Notable LGBTQIA+ Leaders.
McGrath was selected for the second consecutive year for the honor. Each year, Crain’s New York Business recognizes the top LGBTQIA+ business leaders in the New York metropolitan area for business and professional achievement, involvement in community and civic organizations, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and inclusive hiring practices in their respective industries.

A member of Hinshaw’s Executive Committee, McGrath serves as co-chair of the firm’s Strategic Growth Committee and has been a key contributor to the firm’s expansion in key geographic markets. He was instrumental in opening Hinshaw’s first Dallas office in 2023, working with firm leadership and key partners to identify and recruit a large group of talented attorneys. Since its opening, the Dallas office has doubled in headcount. Notably, 40 percent of the attorneys in Dallas are diverse.
McGrath is the first openly gay leader of the firm’s Consumer Financial Services practice. He has been dedicated to expanding the practice and working to attract top, diverse talent, including a significant increase in the number of LGBTQ+ attorneys and staff. In this role, he has helped expand the Consumer Financial Services group to more than 100 attorneys nationwide.
Recognized nationally as a leading banking law attorney, McGrath focuses his practice on mortgage servicing issues and advises financial services companies on complex litigation and regulatory compliance matters.
In addition to his active practice and firm leadership responsibilities, he serves on the board of the Development Authority of North Country, which supports the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, and the SUNY, Oswego College Council. He is also a member of the Lewis County Health Systems Foundation board and is currently co-chair of the Capital Campaign.
