Mitchel Chargo Appointed to the Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association's Board of Directors
The law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Minneapolis partner Mitchel Chargo has been appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association (ICIA).
The ICIA's mission is to build an equitable and sustainable Indigenous cannabis industry while providing resources for Tribal governments and Indigenous people to design and advocate for better policies.
Chargo represents clients in various legal matters related to Minnesota's adult recreational cannabis program, covering regulatory compliance, licensing, financing, and corporate governance. Before joining Hinshaw, he served as in-house general counsel for a Minnesota medical cannabis manufacturer, managing regulatory issues, corporate matters, and real estate.
He has made significant contributions to the legislation and regulations of the state's cannabis industry and has been recognized internationally in the fourth and fifth editions of the Cannabis Law Report's Global Top 200 Cannabis Lawyers.
With nearly 30 years in commercial real estate and business transactions, Chargo also has extensive experience beyond cannabis law, including advising on real estate loan transactions and corporate business dealings, which resulted in his selection as a 2024 Top Lawyer for Real Estate Law by Minnesota Monthly.
Additionally, Chargo is the president of The Institute for Holocaust Research and Education and a member of several professional organizations, including the International Cannabis Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association.
