Jacob Hopkins represents clients in all stages of administrative and complex civil litigation and in government investigations involving regulators such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and state attorneys general. His representation spans mortgage lenders, banks, credit unions, homebuilders, and other firms in the financial services industry. He handles federal and state enforcement actions, class actions, complex commercial disputes, qui tam lawsuits, and alternative dispute resolution.
Prior to joining Hinshaw, Jacob clerked for the Honorable Clifford L. Athey, Jr. on the Court of Appeals of Virginia. He also practiced complex commercial and mortgage litigation at a national law firm in Washington, D.C.
During law school, Jacob served as the Submissions and Publications Editor for the Journal of Law, Economics and Policy and authored the article "A Song of Balance and Trade: Protecting Consumers By Rebalancing the Power to Impose Tariffs," published in 2023.
