M. Victoria Smith

M. Victoria Smith manages every stage of commercial litigation to defend her clients and ensure the best outcome for businesses involved in disputes and contract-based claims.

Prior to joining Hinshaw, Victoria worked for a small law firm. She also served as in-house counsel for a debt collections company and handled a variety of civil litigation matters on its behalf, including representing her employer in court and arbitration proceedings and in mediation on matters including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and various state and federal consumer laws.

During law school, Victoria was recognized as a scholar by the award-winning Thurgood Marshall Institute. Additionally, she served as a torts teaching assistant and as a legal intern for the East Baton Rouge Redevelopment Authority. Victoria also interned for a legal technology company, where she reviewed and developed guidelines for non-disclosure agreements, master service agreements, and contract reviews.

In her free time, Victoria enjoys assisting high school seniors with their college applications, trying new restaurants, binge-watching Netflix series, and spending time with family and friends.
