Kirk assists clients in matters related to health law, real estate and business law.
Overview
He often represents physicians and surgeons, dentists, pharmacists and medical practice businesses in solving key legal challenges brought about by practice acquisition, hospital contracting, construction, business operations and regulatory compliance.
Kirk's experience representing a wide variety of providers in the medical industry has provided him with extensive insight into the medical field and helps him understand his client's diverse challenges and needs. Kirk has close ties to the medical industry—his wife, a practicing OB/GYN, and his son, an orthopedic surgeon—and understands its pressure and demands.
Kirk's real estate practice centers on commercial financing, loan closings, construction, workouts, title examinations, condemnation, zoning and foreclosures. Clients value Kirk's breadth of legal knowledge in real estate transactions and his ability to assess problems while keeping his client's business goals top of mind.
Experience
Adept at health law, Kirk served as general counsel for the Metropolitan Medical Society of Greater Kansas City for several years and was a member of their board of directors.
Business-oriented, he served as counsel, working on development projects, workouts and creditor rights for Chemical Bank of New York, the largest creditor in the Kroh Brothers Development Company bankruptcy, one of the largest suits of its kind filed in Missouri.
Kirk served on the Commercial Advisory Council Board, Central Region, of the American Arbitration Association, helping to guide it in providing services to health care-related entities.
Committed to service, Kirk is a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol-U.S. Air Force Auxiliary and is an instrument rated pilot.
Among Kirk's many accomplishments, he was a national finalist in the 1977 Rhodes Scholarship.
