Workers’ Compensation Attorney

Position Summary:

Vorys is seeking a workers’ compensation attorney with at least 10 years of experience to join our Ohio workers’ compensation defense practice.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel on workers' compensation matters.
  • Represent employers in workers' compensation claims, including administrative hearings, depositions, mediations and in court as necessary.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce employers' obligations and liabilities.
  • Assist employers in obtaining and maintaining self-insured status.
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, written discovery, motions and other legal documents in support of defense strategies.
  • Stay up to date with legal trends, regulations and case law related to workers’ compensation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key contacts in various state agencies including the Industrial Commission of Ohio and the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.

Qualifications

  • Active license to practice law in Ohio.
  • Strong understanding of Ohio workers’ compensation laws and regulations.
  • At least 10 years of experience handling Ohio workers’ compensation defense matters.
  • Proven ability to reduce obligations and liabilities for employers.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently on an assigned caseload and as part of a team. 
  • Established network of contacts within the Ohio workers' compensation community.
