Airey Included on Columbus Business First's "20 People to Know in Energy" List

W. Jonathan Airey, a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the energy group, was included on Columbus Business First’s “20 People to Know in Energy” List.  According to the paper, individuals on the list “are front and center in their industries.”  Airey was selected for his extensive work on oil and gas issues in Ohio.

An interview with Airey was published and included the following question:

Fracking has received a lot of attention in the news lately – both for its environmental impact and its job-creating potential. How do you see its role in Ohio?

“I believe that development of horizontal wells with multi-stage hydraulic fracturing in the Utica shale play will transform communities across the region for the better, even though we do not yet know the full extent of the shale’s potential. There have been billions already invested by the drilling industry and there are billions more of investments still to come in processing and gathering systems. I believe the current Ohio regulatory oversight by the Division of Oil and Gas ensures the proper protections for Ohio citizens. I helped form the policies that are regulating the Utica exploration and Ohio’s robust fluid disclosure laws that have been in effect since 2010.”
