Bechtold Quoted in Hamilton Journal-News Story Titled “Liberty Twp. Approves 2 Entertainment Districts”
Tim Bechtold, of counsel in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the government relations group, was quoted in a Hamilton Journal-News story titled “Liberty Twp. Approves 2 Entertainment Districts.” The story was about the Liberty Township Trustees’ vote to approve creation of two Community Entertainment Districts on a mixed use site.
The story states:
“The mega $350 million retail, residential and office complex now under construction between Liberty Way and Ohio 129 is scheduled to open this October with 1.1 million square feet of space.
‘The purpose of (the CED) is to facilitate the continued commercial and retail development,’ said attorney Timothy Bechtold of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease, which represents Columbus-based Steiner+Associates. ‘One of the primary benefits of creating these CEDs is to authorize the issuance of liquor permits.’
To qualify as a community entertainment district, the bounded area needs to include a combination of ‘entertainment, retail, educational, sporting, social, cultural or arts establishments within close proximity,’ Bechtold said.
The reason for two such district in this instance is because Ohio law allows one liquor permit for every five acres in a CED, up to a maximum of 15 new permits for sales of beer, wine and spirituous liquor until 2:30 a.m., he said.”
