Duhamel Quoted in Law360 Story Titled “Record FCRA Verdict Highlights Privacy's Growing Value”
Marcel Duhamel, a partner in the Vorys Cleveland office, was quoted in a Law360 story titled “Record FCRA Verdict Highlights Privacy's Growing Value.” The story was about the decision by a California jury to award a record $60 million verdict in a class action against TransUnion alleging violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
The story states:
“The California jury’s apparent endorsement of the damage caused by lost opportunities to protect consumer privacy might help drive future FCRA litigation, attorneys said.
‘If what the trial court did is accepted and withstands appellate review, we could see a lot more FCRA litigation,” Vorys Sater Seymour and Pease LLP partner Marcel Duhamel said, adding the verdict should serve as a reminder to businesses that ‘juries don’t like it when they think consumers are being treated unfairly.’”
