Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP is pleased to announce that Michael J. Ball, Colleen M. Devanney, J.B. Lind, Natalie M. McLaughlin, Martha Brewer Motley, Adam J. Rocco, Benjamin A. Shepler and Nancy Nicole Workman have been named partners of the firm.
Ball is a member of the labor and employment group in the Columbus office. He primarily represents employers and assists them in litigation matters, focusing on complex employment litigation such as wage and hour class actions and collective actions. Ball is also involved in all aspects of traditional labor law, including practicing before the National Labor Relations Board, union avoidance, defense of unfair labor practice charges, collective bargaining negotiations, and labor arbitrations. Ball received his J.D. cum laude from The University of Notre Dame Law School. He received his B.A. with distinction from the University of Virginia.
Devanney is a member of the technology and intellectual property group and the co-leader of the firm’s internet defamation group. She practices in the firm’s Cincinnati office. Devanney has experience in all aspects of this new area of law including internet defamation, fraudulent reviews, false advertising, traffic diversion, product diversion, trademark infringement, copyright infringement and cyber harassment. Devanney also has experience in defending corporations in False Claims Act cases, RICO cases, and class actions. Devanney received her J.D. cum laude from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, and her B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Dayton.
Lind is a member of the litigation group in the Cincinnati office. Lind has a broad range of litigation experience including business, commercial, construction, insurance, product liability/toxic tort, probate/estate litigation, intellectual property litigation and information privacy/data breach litigation. In addition, Lind teaches information privacy and data protection law, and intellectual property law as an adjunct professor at the Northern Kentucky University – Salmon P. Chase College of Law. Lind received his J.D. cum laude from Northern Kentucky University Chase College of Law and served as associate editor for the Northern Kentucky Law Review. He received his M.Ed. from Xavier University and his B.S. from St. Joseph's College.
McLaughlin is a member of the labor and employment group in the Columbus office. Her practice is focused on a broad range of labor and employment law matters. McLaughlin has significant experience litigating harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful discharge and non-compete cases. She has handled claims filed under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Uniform Trade Secrets Act and similar state laws. McLaughlin has represented clients before state and federal courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and numerous state civil rights commissions. McLaughlin received her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School. She earned her B.A. summa cum laude with honors from Miami University.
Motley is a member of the litigation group in the Columbus office. Her practice focuses on complex business, commercial, and contract litigation and she has significant experience in counseling large commercial clients related to potential litigation, including breach of contract, fraud, statutory and regulatory changes, and general best business practices. Motley also assists clients in the collection and review of e-discovery productions and has experience assisting clients in the collection and review of electronically stored documents in response to subpoenas by a federal agency. Motley received her J.D. magna cum laude from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and president of the Student Bar Association. She received her B.A. from Miami University.
Rocco is a member of the labor and employment group in the Columbus office. He has significant experience in litigating wage and hour, employment discrimination, and wrongful discharge cases. Rocco has represented employers before administrative agencies and in federal and state courts. He also has substantial experience in defending wage and hour class actions and collective actions across the country. Rocco counsels clients on a broad range of employment issues, including federal and state employment laws, discharge and discipline of employees, and the drafting of employee handbooks. He received his J.D. from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. Rocco received his B.A. from Miami University.
Shepler is a member of the labor and employment group in the Columbus office. He counsels clients on a variety of labor and employment matters, including claims of discrimination, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and wage and hour law. Shepler has represented employers before administrative agencies and in federal and state courts throughout the country. He also has experience drafting and reviewing employment-related documents, including employment policies and contracts. Shepler received his J.D. summa cum laude from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and served as a managing editor of The Ohio State Law Journal. He received his B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Missouri.
Workman is a member of the finance, energy and real estate group in the Columbus office. Her practice focuses on commercial and structured finance matters and she represents both lenders and large corporate borrowers in a wide range of financing transactions. In addition, Workman regularly represents financial institutions, investment managers and commercial end-users in connection with over-the-counter derivative transactions under the ISDA Master Agreement and its related suite of documents. She has also represented numerous retail clients of the firm in connection with commercial transactions and related agreements, including credit facilities, derivatives transactions and synthetic lease transactions. Workman received her J.D. cum laude from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where she was a member of the Moot Court Board, and her B.A. summa cum laude from Capital University.
