Eight Vorys Attorneys Selected As 2009 Leading Lawyers By Cincy Magazine
Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP is proud to announce eight attorneys from the Cincinnati office have been named “2009 Leading Lawyers” by Cincy Magazine.
The Leading Lawyers survey is conducted annually by Cincy Magazine. Winners are nominated by colleagues outside their firms and chosen by a panel of their peers. Hundreds of attorneys in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky cast ballots this year, and fewer than 170 were selected for the honor.
Cincinnati Leading Lawyers and their areas of practice are:
Terri Reyering Abare – Business and General: Ms. Abare is a partner and a member of the corporate and finance group. Her practice focuses on banking law, general corporate law, securities law, and mergers and acquisitions, including initial public offerings, securities registration and reporting, financial services regulation, de novo bank formation and mutual to stock conversions. She counsels a diverse group of clients including publicly traded companies, investment banking firms and closely held companies.
Charles C. Bissinger, Jr. – Commercial and Contract: Mr. Bissinger is a partner and a member of the commercial and real estate group. His practice focuses on the acquisition, financing, development and sale of office buildings, apartments, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other income producing properties, as well as leasing office space and restructuring troubled projects. He has extensive experience in Federal Housing Administration (FHA) insured financings and affordable housing transactions.
Kent A. Britt – Business Litigation: Mr. Britt is a partner and a member of the litigation practice group. His practice focuses on business, commercial, employment, construction and insurance litigation. Mr. Britt has extensive experience in products liability, ethics, legal malpractice, white collar crime, personal injury and will contests. He has also been involved in a number of class action matters.
Daniel J. Buckley – Business Litigation: Mr. Buckley is a partner and a member of the litigation group. He practices in the areas of business litigation, complex litigation and class actions, in addition to medical malpractice defense work. Mr. Buckley served as winning lead counsel in a landmark contract case for a large corporate client, and as co-lead counsel in the successful defense of a multi-million dollar will contest. He has presented seminars on trial evidence and the use of expert witnesses, and is a long-time faculty member of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA).
William D. Hayes- Environmental: Mr. Hayes is a partner and a member of the energy, environment and utilities practice group. His work focuses primarily on air quality issues. Mr. Hayes provides strategic advice to manufacturing clients regarding plant expansions and processing changes, in addition to providing enforcement defense in matters brought by local, state and federal environmental agencies. Mr. Hayes served as managing attorney for air and water issues at the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, and also serves as outside environmental counsel for several major corporations.
Nathaniel Lampley, Jr. – Business Litigation: Mr. Lampley is the managing partner of the Vorys Cincinnati office and a member of the litigation group. He practices general business litigation and employment litigation, including the representation of large companies in class action cases. He successfully obtained a defense verdict in a case involving the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and has spoken at seminars on trial advocacy skills for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
Victor A. Walton, Jr. – Business Litigation: Mr. Walton is a partner and a member of the litigation group. His practice focuses on complex litigation, and he has significant experience defending corporations and individuals in parallel proceedings brought under the False Claims Act by the government or whistleblowers. Mr. Walton is experienced in complex litigation, health care, lender liability, construction and environmental litigation, and represents a broad array of clients in civil and government investigations as well as corporate internal investigations.
Glenn V. Whitaker – Business Litigation: Mr. Whitaker is a partner and a member of the litigation group. He practices general litigation with an emphasis on the representation of individuals and corporations in complex civil litigation and criminal proceedings. His expertise includes qui tam and false claims litigation, class actions, business litigation, health care fraud and abuse, government procurement, environmental and toxic tort litigation. Mr. Whitaker has 35 years of trial experience in complex cases.
