Gecovich Included in Cleveland Plain Dealer Story Titled “Everykey's Wristband That Replaces Keys and Passwords Takes First Place at ProtoTech Pitch Competition”

Edward Gecovich, an associate in the Vorys Akron office and a member of the technology and intellectual property group, was included in a Cleveland Plain Dealer story about a pitch competition for hardware startups.  Gecovich was mentioned as legal counsel for the contest winner, Everykey and its founder Chris Wentz.

According to the story:

“Chris Wentz threw keys behind his back and used fire to light up a piece of paper Tuesday evening at Magnet's first pitch competition for hardware startups. Two hours later he walked away with $12,000 in funding to help launch Everykey, an electronic wristband designed to replace keys and passwords.

Wentz, a 2013 Case Western Reserve graduate, told a panel of judges, and about 150 people in the audience at Ariel International Center, that his universal access device will eliminate the need to keep up with passwords. With funding and time, he said, one day he envisions the product working wirelessly not just on electronic devices, but on locked items - including doors.”
