Martz Quoted in Columbus Business First Story Titled “How Columbus Lawyers Have Joined the Effort to Stem Evictions”
Michael Martz, Vorys’ managing partner, was quoted in a Columbus Business First story about a Legal Aid Society of Columbus pro bono legal program that assists individuals facing eviction. Martz, who is also a co-chair of the Legal Aid Society of Columbus 2019-2022 capital campaign, was quoted about the program and its benefits for both landlords and tenants. Vorys attorneys participate in the program.
The story states:
“‘People look at landlords as villains, but they are not. They're protecting their property, too,’ said Michael Martz, managing partner of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP. ‘By allowing individuals to seek counsel, the outcome is that we can come up with reasonable solutions that benefit the landlords and the tenants both.”
‘Both sides have their rights, and neither benefits from having to go through an eviction.’
Often, there are intersecting issues for residents facing evictions: without stable housing, for instance, a stable job, education, food, health care and transportation can be hard to secure, too.”
