Miller Quoted in Dublin Villager Story titled “District Plans to File Eminent-Domain Claim”

Joe Miller, a partner in the Columbus office, was quoted in a Dublin Villager story regarding a resolution passed by the Dublin Board of Education that allows the district to file suit in Franklin County Common Pleas Court to use eminent domain to obtain an office building on Emerald Parkway.

The story states:

 “Valley Equity's co-principal, Rachael Sparwasser, previously told the Dublin Villager one of the reasons she and co-principal Andy Ward were attracted to the building was because prior to the purchase they had a prospective tenant lined up with plans to use a little more than 70 percent of the space for office headquarters.

Sparwasser had said Valley Equity also secured enough other potential tenants to occupy the remaining space. She said the total leased tenant space would create an estimated 500 new jobs and annually earn about $1 million in income tax.

In a written statement, Joe Miller, a partner at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease and counsel to Valley Equity, said, ‘It is unfortunate that the Dublin City School District has chosen this path -- at the cost of Dublin taxpayers and new jobs for the City -- without even establishing the need for this business office building to be used for school space. My client will fully protect its rights under Ohio law from this unjustified and unnecessary action.’”
