Mills Selected to Serve on Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission

Frederick E. Mills, a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and head of the firm’s government relations group, has been selected to serve as a member on the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission. Mills was one of 20 individuals selected from a pool of more than 150 applicants to serve as a public member of the Commission.

The Ohio General Assembly established the Commission, consisting of 12 legislative members and 20 public members. The Commission is tasked with developing recommendations to the General Assembly for improving and modernizing Ohio's Constitution. These recommendations will become law only if approved, first, by the General Assembly and, second, by Ohio voters.

Mills provides counsel on legislative and governmental matters to Vorys’ Ohio, regional, national and international clients. He is a registered lobbyist before the Ohio General Assembly, and represents clients in many industries, including retail, restaurant, technology, telecommunications, chemical and energy sectors, before the Ohio General Assembly, local jurisdictions and administrative agencies.

Mills began his work with the legislature as a page in 1967.  He also served as a reading clerk; the chief of staff, clerk and majority counsel for the Ohio House of Representatives; the Ohio Superintendent of Banks; and as a legislative assistant to former Ohio Governor James Rhodes.
