Smith Appointed to the Military Spouse JD Network Board of Trustees
Vorys is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Hanning Smith, a senior attorney in the Vorys Columbus office, was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Military Spouse JD Network (MSJDN), a national bar association for military spouse attorneys. The organization and its members advocate for licensing accommodations for military spouses, including bar membership without additional examination for qualified military spouses who move frequently with their military servicemember. Since its founding in 2011, the membership of MSJDN has grown to over 1,000 members and supporters.
Smith is the spouse of an Ohio Army National Guard officer. While she has never had to face a military move, she has lived remotely from her husband and has juggled home and professional life while her husband has been called to duty overseas and out of state. Smith will serve a two-year term on the MSJDN Board of Trustees. Smith also serves as MSJDN’s Ohio licensing director. In this role, she has lobbied the Ohio Supreme Court to adopt a licensing accommodation for military spouse attorneys here in Ohio, a measure that is currently pending.
