Venturino Represents AIPLA at Virtual IP5 Industry Meetings
On February 25-26, 2021, Anthony Venturino, a partner in the Vorys Washington, D.C. office, led a delegation of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) at a virtual meeting of the IP5 Offices with IP5 Industry. The IP5 Offices are the European Patent Office (EPO), the Japanese Patent Office (JPO), the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), the Chinese Intellectual Property Office (CNIPA), and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). A representative of the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) attended as an observer. The IP5 Industry was represented by delegates of AIPLA, Intellectual Property Owner’s Inc. (IPO), Business Europe (BE), the Japanese Intellectual Property Law Association (JIPA), the Korean Intellectual Property Law Association (KINPA), and Patent Protection Association of China (PPAC). The IP5 is a forum focused on procedural harmonization of patent practices.
The AIPLA delegation included Venturino, who is an AIPLA Board Member and Immediate Past Harmonization Committee Co-Chair, AIPLA Executive Director Vince Garlock, and 10 other members of the AIPLA Harmonization Committee. According to AIPLA, the purpose of the Committee is to promote international patent law harmonization and uniform adoption of best practices for patent prosecution and cooperation among patent offices worldwide.
