Vorys Elevates Five to Partner
Vorys is pleased to announce that Kari Coniglio, David Edelstein, Margaret Everett, Christopher Ingram and James W. Kelly II became partners of the firm on January 1, 2019.
Coniglio practices in the Vorys Cleveland office and is a member of the finance, energy and real estate group. Her practice primarily focuses on the representation of financial institutions, debtors, and committees in bankruptcy cases and adversary proceedings and in commercial transactions and litigation including collections, creditors rights, receiverships, foreclosures, reorganizations, restructurings and workouts. Coniglio has served as a Chapter 7 Panel Bankruptcy Trustee for the Northern District of Ohio since 2017. Coniglio received her J.D. summa cum laude from the Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where she was the managing editor of the Cleveland State Law Review. She received her B.A. cum laude from Cleveland State University.
Edelstein practices in the Vorys Cincinnati office and is a member of the finance, energy and real estate group. His practice is focused on environmental enforcement and regulatory matters. Edelstein has handled enforcement of many environmental laws, including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, and Title 18 of the United States Code. His federal court enforcement experience includes trial and litigation work, where he worked closely with the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorneys Offices, and other state and federal regulatory agencies. Edelstein received his J.D. cum laude from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where he was the vice chair of the Moot Court and an editor of the Journal of Law and Health. He received his Masters in Environmental Science from Cleveland State University and his B.S. in biology from Ohio Northern University.
Everett practices in the Vorys Cleveland office and is a member of the litigation group. She has more than 30 years of experience in general civil litigation. Everett has significant experience representing Ohio employers in all aspects of workers' compensation law, including administrative hearings before the Industrial Commission. She also has extensive experience in Ohio state courts representing employers in jury trials involving appeals from Industrial Commission proceedings. In addition, Everett has significant experience defending asbestos and other occupational exposure claims. She represents employers in state and federal court in cases involving intentional tort, retaliatory discharge and unemployment. Everett also counsels clients on the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Medicare Secondary Payor Act. Everett received her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and her A.B. from Miami University.
Ingram practices in the Vorys Columbus office and is a member of the litigation group. His practice focuses on complex business, commercial, real property and contract litigation. He has significant experience in counseling large commercial clients related to potential litigation, including breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties, statutory and regulatory changes and general best business practices. Ingram also counsels clients on preparing for and responding to data breaches. In this area, his experience includes preparing customized incident response plans and advising on cybersecurity issues related to or arising from compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) to directing breach investigations and defending against class action litigation and regulatory inquiries related to data breaches. Ingram received his J.D. cum laude from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law. He received his B.S.B.A. cum laude from The Ohio State University.
Kelly practices in the Vorys Cincinnati office and is a member of the firm's litigation group. His practice is focused on business and commercial litigation with specific experience in all aspects of transportation law. Kelly also has experience in brand protection and reputation issues, insurance and employment litigation, defending corporations in False Claims Act cases and government contract cases, and complex commercial litigation. Kelly frequently counsels brokers and intermediaries in the transportation industry on a variety of matters, including how to avoid and/or mitigate the fundamental risks associated with the transportation and logistics industry. He has experience in all aspects of transportation law. Kelly received his J.D. from the Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law. He received his B.S.B.A. from Xavier University.
