Shaheen Accepted as a National Employment Law Council 2024 Academy Fellow
Samia Shaheen, an associate in the Vorys Cleveland office, was selected as a National Employment Law Council (NELC) 2024 Academy Fellow. Shaheen was one of only 30 fellows chosen nationwide to attend the 2024 NELC Academy.
NELC is a nonprofit organization charged with enriching minority bar members who represent management in labor and employment law. Held in conjunction with NELC’s annual conference, the NELC Academy provides advanced skills training for minority attorneys with less than five years of experience, exposes them to NELC’s national network of experienced labor and employment attorneys, and fosters mentoring relationships.
Shaheen has experience in FLSA wage and hour disputes, FLSA collectives, drafting settlement agreements, and providing management and employee trainings. Her practice also focuses on assisting business clients with immigration-related employment matters, including obtaining approvals of immigrant visa petitions for individuals. In addition, Shaheen represents employers before numerous local, state and federal administrative agencies relating to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge claims.
