Overview

Mark is a partner in the Vorys Cincinnati office and a member of the trusts, estates and wealth transfer group.  As an estate planning attorney, Mark assists high net worth individuals and families in designing and implementing estate plans to preserve and protect family wealth from reduction due to taxation, divorce, creditor concerns of beneficiaries, financial mismanagement and other issues.  He has considerable experience representing clients in complex estate planning, including spousal lifetime access trusts (SLATs), grantor retained annuity trust (GRAT) programs, and analysis of generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax issues. 

In addition, Mark works collaboratively with trustees and executors regarding complex trust and estate administration.  He also works closely with heirs and beneficiaries, helping them navigate trust and probate administration as well as understanding their legal rights. 

When a dispute arises, Mark draws on his litigation experience to support clients.   For example, he represents clients in contested trust and estate matters before the Hamilton County Probate Court. 

Mark teaches the estate planning course as an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law.  In addition, He has spoken at multiple professional seminars in Ohio and Kentucky, including the Cincinnati Bar Association’s Advanced Estate Planning Institute and seminars sponsored by the Ohio State Bar Association.  Mark also serves on the board of the Cincinnati Estate Planning Council.

Mark received his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law, where he served as an articles editor for the Kentucky Law Journal.  He earned his LL.M. in estate planning from the University of Miami School of Law and his B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Kentucky.
